Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Color

Paris Hilton had promised to paint the White House pink. Whether you're a pink lover or not, I believe that pink is not an aggressive color for everyone. It's gentle and quiet, like the color of sweet dreams should be. Pink is also a symbol of love and hormones because it helps calm moods, stimulates estrogen production and helps women age slowly, according to scientific research.

In 1981, an experiment conducted by American criminal affairs was called "Baker-Miller Pink". After the experiment found that people with emotionally unstable or violent people looked at pink things, their pulse rate, blood pressure, and heartbeat were significantly reduced. Afterward, many wardens in international prisons, in order to suppress violent prisoners, let the architects put pink elements in their cells.

Pink is one of the most popular colors in the fashion world. For example, Victoria's Secret, which is very much under discussion these days, has a PINK collection. And Stevie Boi presented F/W 2018 PINK Collection. All of these prove that pink is a fashion darling. FIT Museum has launched an exhibition named "Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Color" to explore the changing importance of pink over the past three centuries. It is on display at the FIT museum in New York until January 5, 2019.

Pink exudes joy and optimism. Yet pink can also be punk, a violent reaction against the constraints of modesty, in the eyes of Vivienne Westwood, Kawakubo or Zandra Rhodes. In fact, pink has become a self-contained as a rebellious color. On January 22, 2017, on the second day of the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, a number of cities including Washington, New York, Chicago, and Boston set off a " Women's March" protest, and it quickly spread across the globe, attracting 2.5 million people. People in more than 600 cities around the world, wearing pink hats (Pussy Hat), took part in the parade, calling for equality between men and women, fighting sexism and protesting Trump's comments insulting women. It quickly became an international symbol of support and recognition for women's rights, but it became controversial.

In the 1990 Madonna's Blond Ambition tour, Jean-Paul Gaultier made a cone bra costume for her, using the connection between pink and intimate and sultry clothing as a sexy weapon. A variety of different pinks can represent very different types of women, from sweet to naive to hot to erotic.

In the age of trends forecasting, pink is breaking away from girly connotations. Pretty, punk, powerful, no one can resist it.
